@MikeDunnAuthor @bookstadon we don't want them to question established scientific facts though

@MikeDunnAuthor increasingly it seems people are questioning things that were established 2000 years ago, like flat-earthers or things that are obvious like climate change

people need to have a sound scientific education that motivates them to be inquisitive

@WahbAllat @MikeDunnAuthor There is always some level of asshattery going on in society, but yes, it does seem to be on the increase.

I think it has more to do with our politics than our science or education, although it often finds expression in pseudoscience.

@WahbAllat @MikeDunnAuthor We kind of forget that the whole point of politics is to oppose economic power. I mean, the rich are already powerful without these political institutions, so they won't want to negotiate a whole other set of institutions if they don't have to.

@WahbAllat @MikeDunnAuthor So when we combine politics with economics, like in neoliberal philosophies, we are essentially smearing shit all over ourselves. And that's kind of how pseudoscience gets credibility--repudiating standards at the most fundamental, attitudinal level. Like miles and miles before we reach any substantive scientific or educational issues.
