 Seeing lots of PC gaming sites claim Baldur's Gate 3 on Steam Deck is "relatively reliable 30 fps" and "performance is actually pretty solid" ๐ค๐ค๐ค I swear they haven't even played it. The performance on Steam Deck is nowhere near a stable 30FPS. 19 comments
@gamingonlinux i'm just glad it works day one on linux at all. (for me it's 40-60fps with RX6800 XT) There's times it is, there's places that can be 60FPS! But there's masses of areas constantly dropping it below 30FPS even on lowest possible settings. @gamingonlinux I forget, but does the Steam Deck support FSR? You might be able to use that a bit to help out. Oh and Proton Experimental still has crashes. Not perfect, but still absolutely better than the default of Proton 7 for it. I have a video rendering for it now, which funnily enough had a bunch of areas that did perform well. Will have early suggested Steam Deck settings in it. @gamingonlinux Have you checked if selecting if DirectX 11 or Vulkan is better for stability and/or performance? @arda that won't do much different to the current proton experimental, ge-proton is not a performance fix @gamingonlinux ge 8.9 works great no crashes in 7 hours of gameplay yesterday  @gamingonlinux I don't have the game, but seeing this video, it does not look like a crazy claim: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49Okk4uSOOo @doragasu that video is right at the start of the game, and you can see towards the end it starts dropping below 30FPS - it's easy to make a short video showing good areas @doragasu they're also using CryoUtilities and who knows what other tweaks as they don't say, as usual that channel explains very little @gamingonlinux So it is not playable at this state?
