Thesis: the rise of small smartphone screens as the predominant way the world accesses information has had negative effects on the presentation and understanding (and toleration!) of complex, well-evidenced content.

It hasn't helped either that one can so easily stare at them 5sec at a time before swiping to the next thing in the middle of other activities.

I wonder what a thing like #VisionPro -- if ever cheap enough for most people -- with its promise of an "infinite canvas" will do.

@J12t this exact thought passed my mind last night. i am dumbfounded.

that said, doesn’t the misinformation problem get worse once you start literally augmenting reality?

@austinha It certainly provides additional avenues to insert information into you field of view -- which may be true, or false. Not obvious to me that it would favor one over the other.

But data-rich environments -- like large screens, used well -- favor facts over fiction IMHO. I hope 🙂
