@LukeBrowell@kissane Hashtags work for people that are shopping - they don't work for people that want to find a specific person/post and want the search bar to find the needle in a haystack. The expectation is that absolutely everything will be indexed and search will not just find "stuff," but exactly what you're looking for, with a high probability. Mastodon is saying "look, there are tradeoffs if we do that." And there are - but people still expect it, because it works everywhere else.
