I would redirect all of my donations to such a project. The search is so bad it might as well not exist and it makes the great stuff that is in the archive pretty much entirely inaccessible.
Which is sad. I like going through historic documents and the Internet Archive has a lot of them - but they're so hard to find.
At least there's a - curated - list of collections on the front page now, that is nice.
The curation/discoverability aspect is very important for justifying an Archive's existence. After all you want to get something out of it at some point.
Making the experience enjoyable will gain you a lot of sympathy.
