In the US 2024 presidential #election is coming up. It seems safe to say that the #news -- and in particular social media -- will be full of realistic fake news that is likely to even drown out legitimate news. Beyond text, it will now also include "photos", "voice" and "video".

Twitter now has a point of view due to its owner (which is partisan) and the Threads guys have said they don't want to focus on news in general.

Does the #fediverse have a constructive role to play? If so, how?
