Nope. Knowing Meta/Facebook as I do, there was not a snowball's chance in Hell they were going to deny wingnutters and fundies "free speech" rights there.

@AnthonyJK they can’t “ban” accounts from signing up for threads, it might share instagram’s account system, but if the account is reported enough i’m sure it’ll be removed

The problem is, though, Threads uses Instagram's rules of conduct pertaining to "free speech", and those tend to excuse "conservative" sites with lots of cash like LoTT to remain above censorship standards. No way does Zuck want to be tagged as "liberal" right off the bat.

The other real issue is that Threads.net users have no means of blocking individual throots there, since they depend on their AI-building structure to monitor and transfer posts. So, users are stuck with them. (Update: My mistake....users can block or mute them at the local level individually. They cannot ban them, though.)

Snark understood and acknowledged. I actually have no issue with conservatives using social media. Libs of Tik Tok, though, stretches "conservative" to extreme limits. Better word for them is "fascist".

For the longest time, faulty moderation and/or the lack thereof has been a driving force in the defederation of servers, owing to the need for user safety. This is especially important with disadvantaged groups, BIPOC and LGBTQ+ and ND folks, exactly the sort Raichik and her ilk prefer to target. If bad/antithetical moderation is the only reason that a lot of 'you're tearing this Fediverse apart, Lisa!' folks will accept, then so be it. It's a perfectly valid reason.

LoTT is a very, very right-wing/AltRight social media org that cut their teeth gnawing on and harassing folks on the Left, LGBTQIA+ and non-White folk, with special focus on the transgender community. @AnthonyJK that’s standard conduct for any platform that values profit and growth over social utility, tbh. and inherited directly from instagram. threads was never going to be socialist, or even antifascist, because meta never has been, and certainly won’t change to accomodate a much smaller network they may or may not federate with in the near future
