Do you hand-make things that you sell? Do you wish Etsy would *disintegrate* for jacking up fees 30% after a record sales year?

Artisans Coop is on its way to becoming a very real Etsy alternative, a place for handmade goods that is owned by its members, that can put all that "record sales" into the pockets of sellers, not white collar thugs. And i do mean artisans, not assholes who steal designs and get them printed at a sweatshop.

How is that possible? Check it out: artisans.coop/blog/join-an-aut

I've been following this since November and this is a legit enterprise. I'm entirely excited about someday selling through them, though for now i'm just a supporting member.

Keep in mind you can make up part of your membership in "points," so if you don't have the cash to join (and it's just over $8 a month for a year) you can actually work it off in referrals and volunteering!

@inkshark personally as an artist I have as much trust in corporations as in coops, not because what a co op is, but because of how I know human nature is. And that means to me that coops can be dishonest, have whitecollar peeps, and be bad too.

I'll check this one out though as it sounds interesting.

Edit:
Having membership points is a huge red flag though

@cbt I'm always glad to see people actually reading through the material, even if you come to a different conclusion based on the same data. 😁

Petttro

@cbt @inkshark yep totally agree. Fear, greed, megalomania - the main root causes of all human actions.

@petttro @cbt I'm not sure it's helpful to assume everyone is so terrible that no right choice can be made and therefore all the choices are equal.

There ARE organizations which cause more environmental and societal harm; i am never going to be convinced that a board of privileged bros who have never made a thing with their hands have *better* interest for artists than actual other artists, though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If no choice is "good," then "better" is the best, yeah?
