@meena What I mean is holding back the necessary modules that could benefit everyone (including them) in relation to Linux kernel specifically. MySQL is greatly inferrior to MariaDB nowadays, OpenOffice is dead compared to Libreoffice (although LO still sucks, IMO, we need a completely new office suite which is not a fork of ancient StarOffice codebase). And Java is, well... it's Java. |
@drq you don't have to go looking at Nvidia for bad examples of Oracle fucking over a project or an ecosystem and setting it back by (half) a decade
Just look at MySQL, or Java, or Libre / Open Office
Solaris is pretty much dead, and gutted
