I've successfully repaired this Fluke 8840A bench multimeter!

it used these weird custom Fluke analog switch chips, 700013. several of them failed, so I made tiny PCB replacements!

i named the replacement 700013 chips FLOOB TOOOLE. the design is open source, and you can find the files right here: github.com/schlae/TOOOLE

@tubetime Wow. You an inspiration for those into electronics repairs. I'm already happy when I can identify and switch out a bad cap or transistor..

Fixing old equipment is doing a good deed :blobcatthumbsup:

@tubetime

Can you post this to the Vintage Electronic Test Equipment (VETE) group on Facebook?

Jeff Haluska

@tubetime The most interesting part is line 573 of TOOOLE.kicad_pcb.

@tubetime Wow, nice work! I'm not sure I'd have done the same - but maybe I should train myself to be less squeamish about such things. Nicely done, and thanks for sharing the design with the community :)

@tubetime It's wild seeing your bespoke fabricated 2020's tech integrated into a mass manufactured 90's circuit board. I love it!

@tubetime seeing this makes me realize how much PCB's have changed since I was a small child tearing them apart.

@tubetime Could you do it again or was it just a ... never mind.

@tubetime curious, does this not have repair functions like continuity, diode check, etc. Been notiticing the bench ones are more measurement.
