Often it's said that #FreeAsInBeer and #FreeAsInSpeech are separate (or at least separable) issues, but I do not believe that to be the case. In brick-and-mortar commerce since forever, the point where the money changes hands is of most interest to the security types. You can't have a #paywall or #adwalls without, if not #DRM, at least tamperproofing the technology to some extent. We can have a network of #GeneralPurposeComputing machines, or a network of set top boxes, but not both.
