I think organisations take a risk by relying on a friendly nerd managing their web presence. What if that nerd starts a family, gets a more demanding job, or just decides that they don't want to do free labour for that specific organisation anymore?
Not advocating to use facebook, but there should be better options for organisations to own their own webpresence
@peter @esther Yes, I think even an account on a Mastodon instance run by a reputable organization (something like Mozilla) would be preferable, especially since that would automatically generate an RSS feed as well. Furthermore, such an account would be much easier to set up and maintain than a website including a self-hosted feed, especially if much of the information needs to be available only for a short period of time.
