@plexus Well, as a Scot I *would* be an EU citizen but another country's far-right government dragged me and my countrymen out. I'm all for this.

Unfortunately, there's no option on the form to agree from the UK.

Unofficially, I'm sure there are lots of UK train lovers who'd be happy to see more investment in railways.

I was happy to read that we can now travel from London to Berlin by train: Eurostar + an overnight train.

Cyprus, Malta, Ireland, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania either have no railway or different gauge or drive on the other side, so the plan is to connect 20/27 EU capitals which isn’t inclusive.

@vitaminsludge The vast majority of Europe is on standard gauge, and for high-speed lines, this is even more true. See Spain, for example, whose high-speed rail network was made to be compatible with France's. The planned Rail Baltica line again is to be on standard gauge.

Ernsthaft: Ich würde diese Idee nochmals überdenken. Hochgschwindigkeitsbahnstrecken können sich wegen der weiten Kurvenradien und geringen Steigungen der Landschaft nicht anpassen. Die dafür nötigen Trassen werden einfach in die Landschaft gekotz. Und verkehrsvermeidend wirken die auch nicht. Im Gegensatz zu einem weit verbreiteten Irrtum, spart Bahnfahren keine CO₂ sondern stößt nur weniger aus, als ein Fahrt mit dem Auto.
