@gamingonlinux Rise of the Tomb Raider. If I recall correctly I spent 60โ‚ฌ on that, first (and last) time I ever paid that much for a single game and I didn't enjoy it at all. I thought I was sure to like it, because I enjoyed the TR game before it, which I had bought at like 12โ‚ฌ during a sale.

@gamingonlinux there's no game I regret buying tbh, but several I regret *paying full price* for. Mass Effect 3 pre-extended-cut has to be the highest regret amongst them

@gamingonlinux In general I'd say Bayonetta 3. Just wasn't a good follow up to the previous 2 games.

For stuff on PC, can't really think of anything I regret to be honest. I usually buy things a little later rather than straight away, which usually shields me from the worst.

@gamingonlinux Crash Bandicoot: N Sane Trilogy. It was a fine collection, but I bought it a week before Activision got sued for abusing their employees

@gamingonlinux Doom Eternal.
Loved the previous to bits but eternal never clicked and after hearing how they fucked Mick Gordon over I just really resented giving them money

@gamingonlinux SimCity (2013)

There are very few games I regret buying... but that one, oof. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

@gamingonlinux Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight. I finish pretty much all the games I buy even if they suck like Call of duty: Infinite warfare. But C&C 4 - the gameplay was so bad, I just couldn't bear to finish it, despite the fact I was dying to see how the tiberium saga would conclude. In the end, I just watched the youtube video - yes, the ending sucked too. For #EA to screw one of the most beloved game franchises like this - it's a true disgrace ...

@gamingonlinux While I don't really have one that I regret buying, the one that still fills me with negative emotions when I notice it is Spacebase DF-9

@gamingonlinux Fall guys, them turning free 2 play after paying 20 euros for it, especially after only 2 years is disgusting. that isn't the worst of it tho, all the changes to gameplay and comsetics bc of epic absolutely killed the gamefor me

@gamingonlinux Sword with Sauce. Little indie movement shooter in alpha that was immediately abandoned, and now it just sits in my library, annoying me, lmao

@gamingonlinux Borderlands 2. although itโ€™s more about spending 30 hours in it, none of which I enjoyed. Iโ€™d heard lots of praise of it from friends and online so I was expecting it to hook me at some point

Modern Warfare 3, Final Fantasy 13, and the Thief remake all taught me to never buy a game at release and that you can't trust IP. I'll always wait at least a month until the dust has settled and sometimes will just wait for a discount.
Practising delaying gratification is great for the mental health and ensures you're making an informed decision not getting swept up in the hype. I'm sure I've played much worse games but never after waiting with such baited breath and paying so much for them.

@gamingonlinux My most recent regret is Call of Duty Modern Warfare II

Kerfuffle

@gamingonlinux
Doom 3. Witcher 3. Baldur's Gate 3. Nier Automata. Every BlazBlue expansion after the original game. All games that I just couldn't get into after buying them full price.

@gamingonlinux Sea of Thieves. After a few hours of playing I had to face the reality that it gives me motion sickness within 30-60 minutes of playing and I need to lie down for an hour to get rid of it. Can't refund, can't resell, a complete waste of approximately 50โ‚ฌ.

@gamingonlinux: Does Star Citizen count as a purchase?

@gamingonlinux Elden Ring. The gameplay was decent enough but the story was absolutely terrible. But I kept at it because other people kept saying, "It's such a great game". Finally, I get to the Elden Lord and I realized that I really didn't care to beat that boss because I really didn't care what the ending was going to be. So I walked away regretting I had put that much time and money into something I cared so little about.

@gamingonlinux Thief. I was a fan of first three and I pre-ordered reboot. I was very disappointed and didn't even finish it to this day.
