Well how to say. They were always "late to the party", iphags didn't invent anything they are now famous for. Touch phones and communicators were before them, tablets computers, portable drawing devices with pens were also before them, arm laptops were before them. They never invent something "brand new", only extend existing concepts to make them more usable by housewifes and soyjaks.

The device will obviously be some kind of ultra-proprietary restrictive thing that is not very fun to use from my point of view, but whether it will be a failure from a business point of view, I have no idea. It may very well not be 🤷‍♀️
