"I believe the most compelling use case is for work" . "To put it even more strongly, the Vision Pro is, I suspect, the future of the Mac."

I don't think he's wrong. Time will tell, but not a bad take.

@J12t the conclusion of that piece is a real gut-punch

@MattD Yeah, but I don't think he's right on that point. Apple long time ago must have decided that they don't do "social" themselves, instead they provide platforms on top of which others like Meta can do social. And there is nothing in what I've seen that says that isn't possible with the Vision product.

On the other hand, given that Meta is now committed to their own platform, that might create a really interesting opportunity for somebody else, leveraging Apple!

@J12t Agreed! It will be very interesting to see what sort of social experiences develop on #visionOS - both virtual as well as in-person. Personally, I want to know more about what happens when two people try to connect with each other while wearing the headset. So many unanswered questions that we just didn't get to see yesterday

@J12t at the reported price it would have to be, but to do that it would also have to connect to the docking station to be used like any other computer. And I’m not sure I prefer the strapped to my face form factor over the laptop or tablet form factor; the headset is the only one you can’t share without everyone having their own pricy device
