@DemocracySpot @DemocracySpot @qurlyjoe I'm not happy unless I can see little coloured blocks flying around the screen. Command-line defrag was the best. ๐ @druid @DemocracySpot @qurlyjoe The best defragmentation tool I ever used was a program called ultimatedefrag. It was awesome, you could put your most used files at the fastest part if the drive, and least used at the slowest, to give you as much performance as possible. @DemocracySpot @qurlyjoe Just remember, defragging is only good if you have an old style HDD. If you have a newer machine with an SSD instead, defragging is actually bad for it. So check first to make sure the drive is spinning rust, and not flash based storage. Just putting it out there as a P.S.A. @DemocracySpot @qurlyjoe If you're using an SSD, defragging isn't a thing anyway. Quit worrying and embrace the randomness :) @qurlyjoe great. If all would be caring about theirs, zebraโs could get much fasterโฆ @qurlyjoe there's a typo in your alt text: it reads "horse" for the caption where it should read "zebra." @qurlyjoe I tried to figure out who made this image, but in lieu of that hereโs the oldest reference to it I can find. https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/7c9ll8/he_runs_much_snappier_now/ @qurlyjoe And here it is going semi-viral on another site a day before it started blowing up on Reddit: https://twitter.com/27_b_6/status/928641031792463873 @jsit @qurlyjoe @marcoarment Not a bad joke. But 1000โs of Mastodonโers under a certain age just said, โI donโt get itโ ๐ @PenguinToot @khad @qurlyjoe @marcoarment as not a developer I finally understand what defragging means ๐ค๐ผ @qurlyjoe Reminds me of the brilliant book Tidying Up Art. https://www.demilked.com/tidying-up-art-ursus-wehrli/ @luppano @qurlyjoe OMG I laughed so hard! And thanks for the alt-text. I'm happy every time someone takes the time to write them. |
@qurlyjoe
Still skeptical about Win11 "automatically" keeping my C: drive "defragmented."
