Amazing how SOAP has basically completely disappeared from the face of the planet, in spite of so much big company support at the time. (Just got a reminder that AWS is not further maintaining their SOAP-based API.)

The flak we were getting back then for arguing it was way too complicated, and needlessly so, and REST was so much simpler and more in line with the web.

REST won completely -- well, at least what passes as "REST" today, which often isn't quite what Roy Fielding had in mind
