@Albatrossity the magpies are definitely a love/hate kinda relationship. They get pretty pushy with the cats and cat food. I am in the western US. My birdnet is not perfect but it does give me more info than I had before. It identified my dog as a screech owl, close, and sometimes pics up rhe toads singing as other birds. That is a great list. I've only had mine setup a week or so and it has identified 49 birds. Probably 90% accuracy. It's cool to see what comes in mornings only.

@Myphatself Outdoor cats are a love/hate relationship too :-) I'd side with the magpies on that one!

Yeah, the sound ID technology still has some glitches. Merlin IDed a cow as a Long-eared Owl for me once... But it does let me know how bad my bird calls are. I tried what I thought was a pretty respectable chickadee call, and it told me it had heard a Yellow-headed Blackbird. That was sorta insulting...

I sorta do wish that it would ID common non-bird sounds (bullfrog, squirrel, toad, cicada, etc) as well, but maybe that is coming in the next generation.
