@castironflower that's all i have, sadly. they reported @Elizafox for asking for help with buying an air conditioner in advance of the heat wave. @ariadne @castironflower @Elizafox Hi! SFBA mod here. Iβm always happy to answer questions - either about reports or disputes that arise with our users! We resolved this report with no interventions, and we have been in contact with the reporting user to let them know we donβt have a policy against donation requests, mutal aide, or anything of the sort. @cd24 @castironflower @Elizafox can you disclose who reported it? I would like to suspend their account from this instance. @ariadne @castironflower @Elizafox No, we are unwilling to do that. I can understand your desire to limit them, however reporters do so in confidence. We always want our users to be comfortable sending a report to us without fear of retaliation. Sharing their information with you would break this trust. If this becomes a regular problem, we will work with or limit the user. @ariadne "We're liberals and we care about economic inequality... but look, we can't exactly have y'all sleeping outside our pristine Google offices, so you're going to have to go. Also, my salary is a third of a million dollars a year, but I'm going to riot if Google takes away my free meals." @ariadne that's insane that someone would report someone for begging for money! I sincerely hope that @seb will go after such frivolous reports. Cuz if I were an instance admin and get this shit I'd rather instance-wide mute the reporting account... @ariadne the fact that it's not only reporting for that, but using the specific term "panhandling"
@ariadne We live here, we're poor, and yeah everything just feels kinda hostile. We prooobably shouldn't join that instance, huh. @ariadne I'm still shocked every time we go out by the cops IN LIBRARIES and the locked bathrooms. |
@ariadne Now I'm trying to imagine ironic disdain for the poor, and I really can't decide which is worse.
