@madargon The other fallacy is that even if only the government has access to the backdoor, the government is often a bad actor itself and they can't be trusted with our data, since they will use it to silence dissidents and those who challenge the oligarchy. There have been numerous incidents demonstrating that the intelligence community is a fundamentally hostile entity that operates in bad faith and is not to be trusted: MKULTRA, Operation Northwoods, Operation Mockingbird, etc. etc.
