@fsf A nice idea.
However, operating systems don't succeed with non-technical users (typical consumers) unless they 1) assert a minimum level of hardware features that would complement their platform and 2) establish a hardware certification program with a licensed compatibility logo that hw merchants and shoppers can easily recognize.
Windows and Android did these things to great effect.
