Hopefully, the instance admins and devs can find what caused it. Someone also noticed the same before, for my post, but the post itself looked fine, it only looked HTML on the user's instance who saw it.

Maybe there was a function that is not compatible. Or, the transmission of the data was corrupted or malformed. Or, something was a misss in the mastodon.ml instance database, it wasn't able to interpret data from quietplace.xyz instance.
Probably encoding incompatibility? At least that's the only one I used to encounter before UTF-8 became common.
