@gamingonlinux While I kind of agree we should have more native games, I'm very happy that I don't have to install Windows in order to play my favorite games.

@gamingonlinux big "yet you participate in society" energy

@gamingonlinux
I like how wine describes itself, it's a win32 reimplementation; It's just implementing windows-only APIs on linux.

It's always been the goal: bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?i

yossarianuk

@gamingonlinux Would he prefer Linux gaming to be more like Mac ? (i.e no games)

Felix Urbasik

@gamingonlinux I mean what that person described is true, but I can tell you it's the same game of whack-a-mole on native #Windows. That's just what programming is, really.

Also, native Linux games are popping up left and right.

@gamingonlinux Gaming โ€œon linuxโ€, yet no game code actually runs in kernel space :ms_rolling_eyes:. /j

@gamingonlinux Loving that critizicing the Linux Gaming Community completely misses the point; Linux is getting today the support to be the best gaming platform because <gasps> it can play basically anything... unlike Windows and MacOS.

@gamingonlinux Whelp, time to add to the old block list, no joke. Horribly uninformed trolly take

Sayuri Firebrand ๐Ÿ’› โฌœ๏ธ ๐Ÿ’œ ๐Ÿ–คโ€

@gamingonlinux chasing down moving targets is just what happens when you make a game engine built on any OS, that describe just software engineering. I never really got this ideological purity bullshit.

ziggurism

@gamingonlinux so you just block anyone with an opinion you don't like? i guess his username was accurate tho

ziggurism

@gamingonlinux i was going to say i think there could some point to discussing whether making it easier to run windows executables is actually bad for the linux gaming ecosystem. but i don't want to piss you off.

@gamingonlinux

I don't use the fav button (feels too "helping build the Skinner box" to me), but I'll make an exception for this.

Stuart

@gamingonlinux hmm. Let's see the checklist:

Running Linux? โ˜‘๏ธ
Playing games? โ˜‘๏ธ

Seems fine to me. Nothing to be gained by dismissing the amazing work people have done with things like Proton that make Linux gaming so much more viable now than it used to be.

Vinnyboiler

@gamingonlinux I think Linux is in a very interesting state right now. I have no doubt that whatever advancements are made in DirectX13 will impact which games work with Proton. If the Steam Deck had not come out, I believe developers would not think twice about breaking Linux support. However, now that there is proven money to be made by ensuring compatibility, developers are more likely to prioritize Linux support.

DarthYoshiBoy

@gamingonlinux Uh...? I'm running Linux, I'm playing games... Seems like Gaming on Linux. What even is the point they were trying to make?

"Your game doesn't come packaged as a raw UEFI binary that your computer boots directly without using any middleware or APIs to run? Are you even gaming bro?"

๐Ÿ™„

RedCyberLizzie

@gamingonlinux yes, it runs on linux, thats what gaming on linux means. SMH, why do people gotta be this way?

WMan22

@gamingonlinux Why feed the troll, hell, why Streisand effect him by displaying his idiocy for all to see on your mainline feed? I would never have even heard of this guy if you didn't screencap his post and put it here.

He's not even really technically incorrect but we're still gaming on Linux regardless of the method how and proton as it gets more patches is more versatile and can create a dynamic environment that best runs a game while windows has a fixed environment that is itself, moving.

Liam @ GamingOnLinux ๐Ÿง๐ŸŽฎ

@WMan22 why? Because i wanted to, donโ€™t try to police what i post

WMan22

@gamingonlinux I'm not trying to police what you post, I'm asking why you want to give attention to an asshole. You're free to do that as you wish, it's just kinda like, giving him the attention he wants.

Alex D

@gamingonlinux Maybe 'Wrongthink' should change his/her handle to 'Dumbthink' or 'Don'tthink'.

Kyle Coops

@gamingonlinux I would prefer native games, but I also donโ€™t know how people actually have issues gaming on Linux.
All my AA and indie titles run great, and I donโ€™t play anti cheat p2w unoptimisable crap.

Bakunin Boys

@gamingonlinux What exactly do they think Gaming on Windows is?

Michael

@gamingonlinux complaining without coming up with a solution. What an unsupportive twat
