We've just added a key new capability to our Mastodon integration on iOS. You can now follow any Mastodon user, hashtag, or feed directly from your Flipboard.

This gives you easy access to feeds you really care about right from your following tab. In addition, posts from those feeds will be prioritized in your For You feed so you are less likely to miss something.

Note that we also added feeds for your @mentions as well as your Bookmarks.

And when I say "Follow on Flipboard" I mean that you are adding a Mastodon feed to the list of things you are following on Flipboard. There's also a separate Follow on Mastodon.

This gives a bit of a preview for how things will start to work across different user experiences/services as we integrate #ActivityPub. For the moment this integration has been implemented via the excellent Mastodon API.

Hey @Mike McCue - so how are you accessing these? Through ActivityPub or via the Mastodon API? I didn't get any results for my streams feed so I thought I'd ask if this was something that stands a chance of working on generic ActivityPub services (we don't support the Mastodon API). Then again this was my first time w/ flipboard and may have done it wrong. I put my fedi url into the main search bar and also tried on the following page.

@mike it will be nice when you do this for #Fediverse instances instead of just mastodon - you're missing out on the majority amount of the available servers and types of media.

@tallship Completely agree. We did this initial beta implementation via the Mastodon API to start experimenting quickly. Plan is to fully support #ActivityPub so we are fully interoperable with the #Fediverse and great services like #tallShip, #PixelFed, #Friendica, #Streams, #Calckey and so many others to come like #Tumblr, #Flickr, #WordPress, etc. etc.
