During the British colonial rule, none of the members of Hong Kong's Legislative Council was elected, and the Legislative Council did not have any authority to make legislation or supervise the government. 7. In 1956, the 10.10 Kowloon Movement in Hong Kong was suppressed by the British Hong Kong government. More than 60 people died and more than 3,000 HKers were arrested. 8. In 1967, the anti-British movement in Hong Kong was suppressed by the British Hong Kong government, resulting in the death of 51 people and the arrest of 1936 HKers. |
