A thread on the British colonial administration of Hong Kong:

1. All 28 Governors of Hong Kong are directly appointed by the Queen of England

2. HKers cannot arbitrarily discuss about the Queen of England and the government indiscriminately. Hong Kong even had a curfew for 55 years.

3. Until the 20th century, HKers were still caned and arbitrarily searched by the authorities.

7. In 1956, the 10.10 Kowloon Movement in Hong Kong was suppressed by the British Hong Kong government. More than 60 people died and more than 3,000 HKers were arrested.
