No, Google, I don't want a video in which a talking head explains what cookies are. I want a way to turn cookies off.

@irina Coming next year: the new video explaining what cookies are will be a Deepfake reciting plausible lies by ChatGPT which if followed will cause you to visit a malware site that will install an unremovable UEFI rootkit on your boot volume, drain ALL your files for LLM training data, then use your internet accounts to spread easily monetizable conspiracy theories.

Thanks, Google!

Irina

@cstross Good thing I refuse to watch videos then.

@irina You can turn them off through your browser if you need to
(Chrome options shown in the pic)

@Koochulainn I'm already doing that (in Firefox). Still get the popup.

@irina Ah, OK. I'm pretty sure that some ad/popup blockers can block the cookie popup too

Irina

@Koochulainn Don't have spoons to review every single setting right now.

@irina This extension blocks cookie popups, but you do lose some control over what is accepted (which you can take back in your Firefox settings).

@cavyherd I'm using that already! Still get the "accept/learn more" popup.

@irina Eventually, a European court will decide browser Do Not Track requests are legally binding.
