@yogthos I was just watching this clip where some German pol was saying to the Namibian president (whose party is socialist) that more Chinese people are coming to live in Namibia than Germans, and he retorts, paraphrasing, that's fine! They don't treat us the way you do. You're racist to use when we come to Germany. The Chinese aren't.

@InternetEh Western economies are built on exploitation labour and resources in the global south. As the exploited countries shake off the exploiters that’s going to have a profound effect on deindustrialized western economies built on financial capital.

We are living through genuine decolonization where global south is becoming both politically and financially decoupled from western hegemony. A billion people in the west are no longer going to be charting the course for the entire world.

@yogthos I'm writing about one area where this is happening for work, and it is interesting how often you bump into the weird assumption that places like India, China, Indonesia, etc., have some kind of responsibility to do business with us. To make things for us.

And people get resentful when they choose to make things only for themselves. A thing they would look on with great pride if we did. But we don't and we won't bc we are built around this assumption we can get other people to do it.

@InternetEh yeah, people have an incredible amount of entitlement thinking that global south has to stunt its own development in order to provide cheap goods for people in the west
