@heap yeah I completely agree, the faster China can decouple from the western financial system the better off they're going to be. I do think China understands this, and have been quietly working on ensuring that their economy isn't overly dependent on trade with the west for a while now.

I think the rumor is very much intentional and meant to drum up domestic support for a war which US neocons are salivating for.
