I’m aware of the report of some Linux/Steam Deck players seeing a ban on Apex Legends. From what I’ve seen it’s a tiny tiny tiny amount of people and not as of yet some big thing. Will keep an eye on it but it’s not seemingly a major thing just yet.

@gamingonlinux Possibly related are a bunch of Hunt: Showdown bans that are allegedly false positives by EAC. @gamingonlinux Honestly seems like some people just fucked up and are triying to use linux as a excuse, i play it every day, a lot of hours on the game on linux and no ban for me... using proton-ge 49 and experimental. makes no sense, ngl. @gamingonlinux Meanwhile Reddit upvoted a headline over 500 times saying "APEX BANNING STEAM DECK PLAYERS?!?!" Like... @gamingonlinux I think I saw someone on the GitHub repo for Proton reply to the issue with their command line arguments including DXVK_ASYNC=1. That would probably do it. It’s always been advised to not use that on games with anti-cheat. That and it’s not included with Valve’s Proton and it’s only in older versions of GE-Proton. 😬 @gamingonlinux As always, your honest and skilled reports/works are appreciated. There's a reason y'all are my number one source for Linux Gaming. Genuine, kindhearted and just all-around great work. Much love! |
Naturally I’m going to now play a whole bunch more, for science, and not post up some piece on it making it be bigger than it currently is.
