Is it really common that kids in the US get a car on their 18th birthday? (or 16th or 14th i dunno anymore)

Or is it something that TV likes to make us believe?

I mean, kids here should be happy if they get 1 lesson for their licence on the birthday instead of a whole car :bloblaugh:

Keep in mind that things aren't the same in each state but they're very similar.
And yes, TV shows aren't realistic when it comes to people spending their money and living within their budgets.
....
Part of the reason why I think a lot of people are unhappy, because they feel that they deserve to have a life that they see on TV but that's a whole different subject....
