When you praise declining birth rates, you are advocating for a restriction. And we know very well that whenever you restrict anyone from doing anything, you make it OK for the rich to do it and it comes down on the poor. Any time you dabble in eugenics, it affects the poor, people of color, disabled and neurodivergent communities, queer people.
That's where declining birth rates always lead, because the marginalized will always be the undesirables before we point the spotlight on the problem: cis white people with wealth, and the systems that protect them from the consequences of their actions.
White people are not allowed to destroy our planet and then talk about who is and isn't allowed to reproduce for the sake of the same planet they are still actively destroying. It's not the sheer number of humans causing climate disasters, it's the fucking pipelines and imperialist wars. It's the white capitalists who didn't learn how to fucking change up their crops when they colonized the land. It's the whalers and the trophy hunters.
And in fact, declining birth rates in marginalized communities will only make it worse. Because who the fuck do you think is on the front lines of SAVING this place?
