@jaredwhite While I agree the listener does not literally give a shit, and that is what we also must remember that we serve audiences, and as pure as one wants to be, the Audience does not care, and that ship has sailed.

We know what a podcast is technically, but listeners are defining podcast in many ways we have to recognize that.

"the Audience does not care"

I don't believe that.

"that ship has sailed"

I don't believe that.

"listeners are defining podcast in many ways we have to recognize that"

Listeners get to define what the technical term "podcast" means? Do readers of blogs get to define what a blog is? Do end users of web browsers get to define what the web is? Do end users of the internet get to define what the internet is??

@jaredwhite I am as much a proponent on podcasts being defined as ones having a RSS feed.

But I stand by what I say. Audiences don't care.

They care about shows and content. No matter how they are delivered.

@Todd_Blubrry I appreciate everything you and Blubrry have done for podcasting! I guess I am a bit more optimistic and less cynical as to the ability for at least some portion of the general public to care about the quality of the products they use, but you certainly have access to much more data on this than I do. 😄
