@davew @jaredwhite @wjmaggos so, your definition (which I agree with) comes from “cast” in podcast. You “cast” it out on the net for people to listen to.

I’d also like to posit that a show that is 6 hours long also is not a podcast. From the “pod” part of the name, it should be a collection of small, easily listened to shows, not a 6 hour lecture.

no, the "pod" part of the name means you can play it on your iPod -- it's just a portmanteau from 200x of "ipod broadcast"

sorry for "well actually"ing if you were kidding, but I think it's important not to revise history. especially when the main inventor of RSS is in the chat
