@chadgbruner Damn, thanks for that. That all broke while I was in hospital so I missed it. Apparently (from what a search via both google & DDG shows) they've owned it, explained it in detail & are changing stuff. They weren't tracking themselves, but they weren't blocking specific MSN sites that track ad-conversion for statistics from their apps/extensions. Part of licensing to include Bing as search result DB, it seems. Def'ly an issue & this article (https://techcrunch.com/2022/08/05/duckduckgo-microsoft-tracking-scripts/) includes deets.

That said, I hear you. It's an ongoing issue with ny free tech. Obv they have to be getting their income "somewhere" and if it's not through subscription or donations, then it's pretty much gotta be ads. AFAK, they sell ad-promotion on results, but limit it to showing only a few and clearly marking them as ads. (see attached sample search results via DDG).
In the end we can only count on (AND DEMAND) transparency, oversight and accountability.
