@gamingonlinux This is the same crowd who ripped on the Steamdeck for running Linux :thonking:

@gamingonlinux Shit, right you are! Time to test out the toot edit functionality. On the upside, I wouldn't feel so bad buying an Aya Neo now šŸ˜…

@gamingonlinux I'm loving hearing this! Steam Deck has proven that using Linux for gaming is viable. It's been a huge win for the community.

@gamingonlinux I wonder why they've developed their own OS and don't just use SteamOS...

Uriel Castro

Stephen, Because they want the money generated by having their own store

Stephen Greenham

@Uriel @gamingonlinux Yeah, kind of expect that will be the case, but didn't want to just accuse them of that with no proof šŸ˜…

@gamingonlinux I feel like the steamdeck broke the ice to allow more linux-based consoles, without just slapping windows on them. All the work #Valve and wine contrubutors put into #Proton just paved the way.

And now, we can have coherent, polished, and more put together custom consoles (with working games for them) other than the xbox and playstation.

@gamingonlinux Curious if they'll stick with this long term or make the switch to SteamOS after it releases. I can see their thinking with it now, they want to offer tight integrated control over their units for performance, UI, TDP, etc. But that's a big investment for a small outfit who just sells devices, unlike Valve who will be committed to constantly updating and improving Holo, foreseeably for devices beyond the Steam Deck, eventually.

@gamingonlinux finally gaming on linux is getting the much needed love and attention we've been asking for years. i am looking forward to see the software becoming more and more developed which has been around for a while, but is finicky as fuck till steamdeck.

@gamingonlinux Iā€™m more concerned about its support like future updates/patches after its release and how well the customer service is from China.
