I was a Twitteriffic v2.0 user, after purchasing Frenzic, and also installing Ramp Champ. I look forward to seeing where you go from here. @chockenberry I feel for you folks! I'll be supporting whatever you do next. Twitterrific was the first thing ID check each morning. R.I.P., Ollie @chockenberry Amen, almost everything that made twitter good (even the Tweety app that Twitter bought and ruined) came from the user community, not the techbros crashing the ship @chockenberry sorry to hear about your mom :/ And thanks for Twitterrific and all the work the Iconfactory has done over the years. Twitterrific changed how I interacted with Twitter and made me way to write iOS apps which lead to me being a full-time developer today. @chockenberry so sorry about your mom. And what #elon did is not only mean but just a way to make sure he kills the ecosystem. @chockenberry so sorry to hear about your mum. As for Twitter, the way they’ve treated third party apps has been sub-par for years, but this is a disgraceful new low. Sad to see.
@chockenberry I understand that a normal human being expects other to be normal as well, but unfortunately the world doesn’t work this way and so if anybody decides to be a sharecropper (https://www.tbray.org/ongoing/When/200x/2003/07/12/WebsThePlace) then he shouldn’t be surprised when stuff happens. And I am sorry about your mum. Loosing a parent is harsh experience. Give yourself a time to grieve it through. @chockenberry First off, my condolences for losing your mom. Must have been rough. ❤️ Second, I absolutely, without a doubt, was giddy in reading this blog. ❤️ I was a twitteriffic fan for a long time. A huge fan of 3rd party apps, bc thats where the most creativity came into play, unlike the crappy official twitter app. 🤢 So fk #spacekaren and the ship he rode in. #TheShitShow 👍🏻 @chockenberry 💪👊 Who would have thought we went full circle and got chronological timelines back. @chockenberry Great post, thank you for sharing, particularly about your mom (and the added credits for SimBuddy were beautiful). Condolences to you and your family. We lost my dad a year ago yesterday, so I have an inkling of how you might be feeling about that, but we didn’t have all of this other garbage to deal with, so I can only imagine what the non-tame version would have been like… @chockenberry I didn’t use Twitter, I used Twitterrific! Thank you for all the years showing that a social app didn’t need a blotted client. And on a personal note, sorry for your loss. @chockenberry 🫡 Sincerely, thank you for all you’ve done. I only worked there for the last 2 years, but have been a user since 2011 and services like Twitterrific were so key to shaping my understanding of what this thing called “Twitter” even was. A tragic, and heartbreaking way to end. Thanks again, and so sorry the loss of your mother. @chockenberry If you guys will only do a fraction of what you did for Twitter, #Fediverse is in a good shape. Personally I am hoping that you will be working on #ActivityPub and not the Mastodon API — so every one benefits and not just a subset of the ‘verse. @chockenberry I am sorry about your mum, Craig. Some people going leave wounds that will never really heal. And nor do we want them to fully heal. FWIW, I used Talon on Android (mostly because it let me switch to the mobile web app where the API was insufficient), and the last tweet it ever got through the API has a 4:33 timestamp. I'm in Berlin, Germany, so this is CEST, UTC+1. @chockenberry sorry to hear that mate. Yes you have built such a wonderful apps. Hope it will not discourage you to design more brilliant apps in the days ahead. 🙏🙏🙏 @chockenberry I’m sorry for your loss Craig, that your work was so carelessly discarded like this. Twitterrific made Twitter great, and it’s what kept me coming back for fifteen years. Thanks for all your work, along with everyone at the Iconfactory of course. Here’s to a better, more open future. @chockenberry twitteriffic was my introduction to that place; never had an account until I owned it. Skum is simply lighting his money on fire and it’s sad to watch. @chockenberry shitty, yeah. But you, @bigzaphod and the iconfactoryworkers did a great job, and it always felt like you did your best. So there’s that. Now I drink to that, thank you all, and onwards and upwards. (Also, do you have posts or anything else on those ideas of an universal timeline? Sounds intriguing…) @chockenberry Thanks for your 16 years. I was Tweetie user and contributed, but loved to tweet from your interface. @chockenberry A tech friend of mine shared a link to your post, it's appalling what's being done here, I'm so sorry. |
@chockenberry so sorry about everything.
