@seachanged yeah the use of nuclear weapons makes it sound more alarming than it really is, but I do think the fact that the amount of energy being absorbed is growing each year is the really concerning part |

I did some arithmetic, and this is about the same amount of energy that the US state of Idaho receives from the sun in one second at noon in summer.
It actually gets only 4.8 Hiroshimas per second, but it was the closest match of the US states. Oregon is next at 5.6 Hiroshimas per second.
The use of nuclear weapons to suggest damage and harm is artful, but their connotation of absolute evil and unforgivable crime might interfere with accurate understanding of the energy involved.
