Karl Marx and Adam Smith on the dangers of capitalism. I bet that if you quoted Smith to a modern capitalism enjoyer they'd call him a communist.

@yogthos His 'pin factory' was a caricature.

"Our merchants and master manufacturers complain much of the bad effects of high wages in raising the price, and thereby lessening the sale of their goods, both at home and abroad. They say nothing concerning the bad effects of high profits ; they are silent with regard to the pernicious effects of their own gains; they complain only of those of other people." -Adam Smith, The Wealth of Nations

@yogthos "The landlords, like all other men, love to reap where they never sowed, and demand a rent even for the natural produce of the earth." -Adam Smith, The Wealth of Nations

Adam Smith and Marx were both radically departing from what everything the monarchic hierarchies known as "government" in the Eurocentric world embodied until the early 19th century.

Je crois que le dernier monarque français et sa petite amie ont perdu la tĂȘte dans toute cette excitation.

Capitalism is nought but grab all the cookies and share none. A practical and sane "government" exists to regulate this natural human behavior.

@bland yeah the whole human nature argument is really an argument against capitalism and not for.

If it is indeed the case that humans naturally gravitate towards destructive tendencies then we need systems that help mitigate such behavior as opposed to encouraging it.
