Do i understand correctly that a basic feature like bluetooth connectivity was technically fully implemented, but blocked by software until now?

Echoing the sentiment of others, this will keep at least two controllers of mine out of the landfill. Now let's hope the battery last cause when Gamers Nexus attempted to teardown the controller it did not give up without a long and arduous fight.
