#BREAKING: In a massive operation, German police have entered the squatted & occupied village of Luetzerath to evict environmentalists demanding an end to coal mining in the area. The village is set to be demolished by the government to make way for a massive lignite coal mine. Activists who aren't in treehouses are still hoisted on several tripods & monopods throughout the village.

@UnicornRiot @BafDyce I think you are missing the fact that this village is now private property and they are trespassing. And the fact that multiple courts ruled that they have to leave and that the police is mandated to clear the area. They have no right to be there and now the remaining activists are being removed. It’s sad but a less sensational perspective on the facts. And that some activists brought children. Wtf.

@UnicornRiot @BafDyce and that they threw rocks and fireworks at the police. And even if it’s just a part of the group, they did tolerate this behavior. I think it’s a bad idea to continue to use fossil fuels and to expand the mining - but I also strongly disagree with force or endangering children or provoking that people get hurt.
