@drq I would like to make a more complete explanation and call out what's wrong with that post (social.doma.dev/@jonn/10958228) but I'm too tired right now. But the paragraph

>Their MO is "I dislike putin, but I'm a patriot of russia", "both sides are wrong", "we should've negotiated better and subdue Ukraine via non-military action".

is just completely wrong and anyone who would spend time doing any research here would see that. Or, well, at least I don't know of any people who are being rushist on mml without being called out/banned (and the post curiously didn't show any examples of that)

(on the other hand I see how \@rf's current profile picture could be triggering to a lot of people and I would honestly prefer it to be something else. not everybody will see or care about the irony of how it's composed but everyone will see the 2 symbols, both with negative connotations and make their assumptions)

@drq imo: right now, any ambiguity in our positions will not be interpreted in our favor so you have to be crystal clear if you don't want people to get outraged based on their interpretations of your actions. you might also double down and let mml get fediblocked but I would advise you to not do that (at least if you have energy to fight those allegations)

mayday

@vae well, the profile picture is clearly a joke.
And there isn't really anything wrong with symbols that make it up per se
(I agree that the Russian flag has some... really bad connotations because it's used by an invading army, but it's still the only national flag that we have for now)

Also, there's nothing hateful / pro-Putin / otherwise "bad" about the instance or the @/rf group. Our anti-war position is made really clear in the bio. So, these accusations are (at best) blowing things out of proportion.

And comparing us to literal nazis... now that is offensive and extremely disrespectful towards people who actually suffered and died at the hands of nazi Germany

So, IMHO I don't think anyone here should care about this person's opinion. If they decided to get triggered, it's their problem
