@inkscape Ooo I gotta try that out! One of my crowning Inkscape moments was remaking someone's illustration that was using copious blur filters into a visually identical imitation that relied on gradients for the same result, but without spinning up my laptop fans during rendering. 😀

@inkscape (Off-topic) I downloaded the latest Inkscape and the Layers section no longer had transparency selectable beneath the layer stack. Will there ever be an option to bring that back? It threw off my workflow so bad I downgraded to an earlier version.
If not, is there a tutorial to explain what to do instead when I want to adjust the opacity and such of an entire layer?
Inkscape is amazing and I love it, so I thought I'd ask. :) Thanks for all you do.

@AesAthena You can select the layer like an object and use the opacity field in the status bar or in the Fill&Stroke dialog.
This is explained in the release notes:

Some changes to the dialog have been in progress, I've not followed up closely lately. You can try a development version and give feedback on our bug tracker.

@doctormo will probably be able to help you find which version exactly to test.

@inkscape @AesAthena

Mike Kowalski ran the upgrade, Adam, Rafael and I were involved in design advice or fixing it a bit afterwards:

@doctormo @inkscape Hm! This gif looks promising. That's baked into the latest version, then? Or is it a plugin to download? :)

Abandoned

@AesAthena @inkscape it'll be in the next version. You can test the developer version if you'd like to see it sooner

AesAthena

@doctormo @inkscape Awesome to hear! I'll be patient and wait for the next version. :)

@inkscape I am not. But, I am looking forward to learning and using this. Also, for accessiblity I would suggest capitializing words in your hashtags.

@inkscape Oh yeah, I was pleasantly surprised to see it messing with gradients the other day. It's so much more fluid than the old "edit stops at numerical points" system.

@inkscape The new gradient UI is pretty damn great.
