Why can't I make a fork of my own Github repo under a different name in the same organization? Seems like a case of overvalidation.

Yes, I'm trying to fork my own advent of code template.

@loudfpv In this case I don't want to use that as this is for Advent of Code and I don't want to have any spoilers in the "template" repo

@loudfpv Yes, I did exactly that, but it doesn't appear as a fork in the network of the original repo. Ah well.

@borkdude you could just create an account special for the advent of code? And create the fork there.

@st3fan Yes, but in that case I can't easily fetch from the upstream repo? The whole history is disconnected.

@borkdude maybe they just assume you’d branch in that case? Not defending it btw - I can’t think of a good reason to disallow a fork too!
