Dentist: So, do you floss?
Me: Do you use a unique password for every account?
Dentist: So, do you floss? @catsalad ok. Take the unit in the nice general usa reskin in l secured. Take data set to kolektiva.social Link to the hackers club infosec team said I was the Elon poser infrastructure hardening circuit breaker fix that brought him down. Cc to the crew. No idea what I'll look like there, but they already see me and like me anyway In our crew. That's not private at all @catsalad @catsalad Don't mess with the dentist. They hurt you for money. Imagine what they'd do for revenge. 🤐 @catsalad that’s on the unspoken list of things we know we’re supposed to do, but most people don’t do them. Not to say you shouldn’t floss, or make a unique password for every account, but if we did everything people say we’re supposed to, exactly how they say to do it, we’d never have time to actually live. I say take the liberties you can to save your sanity. @nightwind2022 @catsalad well, Firefox does it for you if you tell it to do so...and it actually saves time because you don't have to type it in every time... @catsalad I'm going to the dentist after an... absence. I will be keeping that exchange in mind. @catsalad oh yes, i do floss on a daily basis, its much better than proprietary solutions, imho
@catsalad I was so upset when my dentist asked when was the last time I flossed... ...how could he forget, he was there! ☹️ I have 1Password, and if anyone out there can deliver a 1PlaquesWax product or whatever, please take my money. @catsalad once when I was flossing I pulled on my retainer wire and the glue holding it to my lower teeth spontaneously failed and for a second thought my tooth had crumbled into nothing. It was a completely sickening feeling and it was a huge hassle to get fixed because we were mid lockdown so basically Mr mouth doctor I have a phobia (except not a phobia because it's completely justified) so get off my dick about flossing @catsalad I keep floss in my purse. Also, passwords are so scattered (on paper between work and home) that I’m proud! @catsalad I can honestly say I use a unique password for all of my online accounts (thanks to Bitwarden). @catsalad A patient asks his dentist if he needs to floss all of his teeth. “Only the ones you want to keep” replies the dentist. I guess you can tell whomever asks that they only need a unique password for the accounts they want to protect. @catsalad someone who does both has the perfect oral hygiene and security hygiene. And I would like to know the state of their personal life. My only "productivity secret" is that I got lucky on the stock market and don't have to spend much of my time on a "job". Sorry, I know that's not helpful Also I do not fold my laundry and I live off takeout meals -- something's gotta give, since I also have disabilities and support a more-disabled partner I'm just paranoid about passwords and protective of my teeth in particular @catsalad So funny! My girlfriend (a dentist) pestered me to start flossing every day once we started dating, and I nagged her long enough that she is now in the habit of using unique random passwords for her accounts. 😁 @catsalad @catsalad While there are obvious security benefits from using unique passwords, scientific evidence for health benefits from flossing is poor So I use unique random passwords for everything. Got about 800 or so in my password manager. @catsalad I literally tried this at my last dental visit. I got a very awkward laugh in response 🤣🤣🤣 @catsalad i hate ppl that do bad security, not only do i use good passwords most of them are only known by my password managers @catsalad No I don’t — use a unique pw that is. There are too many to keep track of. I assess risk & use a couple of strong but shared & memorable passwords on lower-risk accounts — like those not associated with finances. So, for example, my online banking pw is unique, but my pw for news site commenting & similar portals isn’t. It’s not technically best practice but I feel it’s safe enough. |
