@Nican My media cache storage space started maxing out (already 11gb) and I didn't expect it to get that big, I even had my max cache time set to be 3 days. So I had to move from local storage to S3.

@Sominemo Oh gosh- that is quite a lot.
Any idea of what it was caching? I did not think my timeline would be going through 11GB of storage every 3 days.

I am guessing that the image loading is not lazy, and caches when posts are federated? (Instead of requesting it only when I see an image)

@Nican I know that Mastodon likes to cache everything it sees on the federated timeline, probably related to the fact I have my instance connected to two relays.

I'll try to analyze the current usage but the format really sucks, just a bunch of IDs, and Mastodon's admin UI doesn't let you sort instances by usage or review exact items.

I'll be thinking about how I'll be analyzing that, but for now I'm on S3 — PostgreSQL crashed due to lack of storage today.
