“I alone can fix it” didn’t work in the White House, and it didn’t work at #Twitter.

@gwync @georgetakei In my experience, if the boss doesn't understand the tech, he assumes it's both unimportant and easy to support. @georgetakei One person can't fix it, but he sure showed that one person can ruin it. @jace @georgetakei Always Focus on your talents. The Dark Lord of Birdie Page does what he does best! @GlienkeStephan @georgetakei Perhaps the kind of man who says that leaves the disaster behind him thinking that he really did fix it. @WaltzingMatilda @georgetakei Well, you know, when someone so very NEARLY destroys the world... I mean, he was so close! Maybe a participation trophy is in order. @georgetakei hooray for malignant narcissists! Nothing is ever their fault and they alone can save us all. @georgetakei it definitely isn't working. On the upside it has show us exactly what kind of human being Elon Musk - I am now quite please I can't afford a Tesla. @mrax @georgetakei My favorite was today when the guy in charge of security badges was fired along with many others. They couldn't get out of the parking lot without working badges, and bird lord and his presumed execs couldn't get back into the bldg. Never put a business major in charge of technology. @Mastodon @HighTechWriter @georgetakei Should buy one Instance and feel getting blocked from almost every others...
Gab and truth.social will probably federate with him... @georgetakei @Mastodon @HighTechWriter Who's in? @headofgiskard @georgetakei @Mastodon nice plan but I don’t think Musk will be solvent for long. He’s in bed with the Saudis, I hear, and at $1B a year interest payments due, it’s going to be a bloody mess. @georgetakei Never a doubt that Elon would break his toy. Wasn’t that the purpose after all? His ego could never fathom otherwise. @SunshineG @georgetakei - The irony is, if he had just stuck to rockets and EVs, and focused his energy and resources on those two things, his reputation would have survived (and improved) and he would be a lot more successful. @georgetakei I have to laugh when I see wretched poseurs using that line in earnest, because I know *I'm* the only one who can fix it.😆 @georgetakei after a quick survey of all the people who were early adopters of twitter like myself, nobody still uses it. musk is tearing down and empty building. @georgetakei @georgetakei I feel like it's got something to do with decades of Hollywood action flicks featuring (dramatic trailer voice) "a lone hero who's also a loose cannon but he gets the job done" @georgetakei never works anywhere, unless “fix” actually means “wreck”. Good, healthy systems take teamwork to build — and the more complex the system, the better the team needs to be. In contrast any damn fool can break something without too much trouble. @georgetakei *sigh* There seems to be an epidemic of self obsessed autocrats in the world. Totally useless. @georgetakei Huge Fan, with that in mind and with all do respect, I was exposed to your Tweets over the last few years. You sir called for the punishment of un-vaccinated Americans, you supported authoritarians and there policies. You called for your fellow citizens to be silenced including the sitting President of the United States. You cheered as our god given rights were trampled by the corrupt and the sinister. You are the problem that needs fixing @georgetakei @georgetakei Big difference, though. When it's the White House, it's an imminent existential threat to the safety and security of the US and its residents. When it's Twitter, it's just fucking hilarious. @georgetakei Hope Wendy is all good. Press briefings are still great Karine does an amazing job. @georgetakei Agree, solutions especially if looking to get buy-in from across the populace needs to be collective ones sourced from many talents. The time for alienation has passed. @georgetakei @georgetakei comparing apples and oranges. businesses are certainly not democratic. should they be is a perilous argument. @georgetakei Ludicrous. Just because someone was in the right place at one time to develop a product the world needed doesn’t mean they could do it again or in a different industry or time. Credibility with the customer is paramount. We never saw Steve Jobs try to reinvent the auto industry. Werner von Braun didn’t design the Saturn V rocket: it took thousands of skilled people. None of us is as capable as all of us, especially with really big challenges. @georgetakei worked, once, to change a lightbulb 💡. @georgetakei It's not working in Florida either. People are priced out of their homes and abandoning their pets. It's all very sad here. @georgetakei and as it turned out "free speech" was white people using the n word without consequence... @stux @georgetakei I dunno, it often takes quite a bit of help outside yourself to fix yourself. @georgetakei the great thing is, Elon has shown the world how great social media can be without corporate ownership and algorithms. The best way to 'fix' Twitter right now would be to allow it to federate with Mastodon and let the users decide on where to go. @georgetakei I feel bad for all the Twitter employees paying the price for Elon's ego trip. @georgetakei That’s a red flag for a cult leader, or in this case a visionary without a plan. How’s that working out? @georgetakei @georgetakei it did work in the break room when all the snack packs needed to eaten before they expured. @georgetakei Thank you so much for the pinned info. I’ve sent DMs to many fellow Dems/Progressives. Hopefully, they’ll get here soon. Just going to look around and read the cheat sheet. 😉 Thanks, again! Chaiah @georgetakei I thought that I was going to lose all my faves - but now that I've found you, hopefully the rest are going to migrate soon as well...🤞 Welcome!💜😊 |
@georgetakei It almost never works, and doubly so in tech.
