@timhutton @adnan @aallan An important "freedom preserving" aspect of the #fediverse is that groups of "dissidents" should be able to leave any instance and import their posts into a fresh instance. ❤️ Tools to help you do this for Twitter archives are a variation of this idea. I am very interested in finding fellow travelers that want to see this realized. I expect @mastohost and others would be supportive of making this seamless. @adnan @timhutton @aallan it's awesome that @support is offering this. ❤️ I'd love to hear more about it. @timhutton @adnan @aallan Hah, that's the issue I opened. It's actually about Masto instance-to-instance migration. @timhutton @adnan @aallan haven't read the issue yet, but surely a user could mark themselves as "in-migration" and it'd just not result in activities that get federated, and post import, disable that state.. |
@timhutton @aallan But you can export your archive of posts at any time, can’t you? I am asking for the possibility of importing this archive of posts into a brand new instance. I never tried it but spacebear.ee offer Pleroma and Mastodon hosting plans and they say you should contact support for importing data from another instance. I never tried it myself but I wonder what they actually do.
