@Mastodon I think it needs an additional join button *at the bottom*. Maybe a "find a server" section right under "what our users are saying", as to encourage people to actually try it out after learning what it is

The improvements are very nice. What about the official Android app though. I know it's meant to be simple, but it's lacking so many basic features. Bookmarks being one. It is also horrid at image loading. It seems to have caching issues and also wants to load HQ images instead of lower quality images for every post, every time. It makes the experience appear very slow. I checked the GitHub and don't see much activity at all lately.

I know a lot of people use a third party app. I do as well. But, the official app is the official representation of the service. As it stands, it's just not a good one.

@Mastodon how do I see anything outside of the server without needing to know a name to follow? Isn’t there a general chat? Or do I just have to hope someone starts up a server with a topic I actually care about? (I can’t. I have ADHD. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ)

@Mastodon hello Mastordon! I am a new user, and I joined about three days ago. I am in my 40s and I did have trouble signing up and learning what to do. I am still unsure if I’m using the server part of Mastodon correctly. Because I am searching for popular people or things and cannot find them. That might be because they are not on this platform, or because I don’t know what I’m doing. I have read several articles written in the last couple of days about the difficulty people are having joining the site. So far I like it very much and hope to get away from Twitter. I was thrilled to find Greta Thunberg on the site but so far they are the only celebrity that I have found. Thank you so much for this platform. I hope that I can figure more of it out.
