@Maverick China is absolutely a socialist country that has a communist party in charge. The fact that China makes concessions to global capitalism doesn't change this fact.

In fact, we can directly contrast China with India to see the difference between socialist and capitalist style development.

@Maverick authoritarianism is a meaningless term in itself. Every government holds authority by virtue of having a monopoly on violence. This is as true in the west as it is in China.

China puts more restrictions on personal freedoms than the west, and the result is a stable society that works while the west is tearing itself apart.

I personally lived through the collapse of USSR, and all I can tell you is be careful what you wish for comrade.
